So I was quite only because I was working on some more Youtube content. Not trying to make a living but I do things on Youtube as sort of a hobby to vent frustration or just to make something that I think would be entertaining. I did watch the little panel they had I think about a day ago so here's my thoughts. Mania seems to be given the most attention and OF COURSE it is they showed off a "new" stage and Knuckles was doing his thing through it. I love how you guys would like to acknowledge you have these characters when you basically have to do fuck all with them. So long as they move and play like the classic games the Classicsts will shut the fuck up for once and just play the game knowing they hate most of these characters that aren't Sonic or Tails.
So here were my little impressions about what  would have liked to see in what is now being named Forces.

More playable characters - Sonic and Tails aren't the only characters in this franchise and even then Tails is just around for cutscenes and useful for spouting exposition that isn't even that good at being exposition (He says Lost Hex like he knows the place but it gets NO back story in Lost World.) and overall just being the smart guy. People need to understand that what you think you want isn't always good for you and for years we've been trapped in this state of "Sonic only" gameplay and what they've done is just ot attach gimmicks to freshen gameplay. People don't know how necessary alternate gameplay styles were to the games.

Interactive characters - Coinciding with point one above Sonic's friends need to be more pivotal in the story or whatever thing is going on. Don't just demote them to their job in Generations which was getting saved by Sonic then just standing around have them do things they are just as capable as Sonic is to help out.

Varying  Gameplay - I've grown bored of this 2.5D gameplay where you go straight and boost then the game slams you into a side scrolling section. If they want to make another 3D game they need to work with unanimous 3D movement at least and not keep shoehorning in 2D sections for classic appeal
So after watching this newly named P17 now called Forces here's an excerpt from GameInformer that another user named knuckles20 found
“Throughout the rest of the stage, I see several familiar elements from the Sonic series, including grind-rails, ziplines, and boosters. As the level progresses, side-characters like Knuckles, Amy, and some members of the Chaotix communicate with Sonic via radio as if to report in on what they're seeing during the assault. Sega tells us that though these characters are present in the game, they are not playable.Instead, gameplay is focused on Modern Sonic, Classic Sonic, and a third style that Sonic Team is keeping close to its chest.”

Well......first 2 are shot right down before they even got out of the hangar. I'm not sure what this third style of game will be but my hopes were but are now FAR away from a new character. And reading this basically the role of the last part of Generations fighting the Time Eater is the entire role of the characters for a WHOLE game. They are literally tutorial characters going to radio in and tell Sonic what he can blatantly see and this being Modern Sonic I EXPECT them to call out every attack the last boss will be doing.

I also watch another 42 trailer of an opening stage that is strictly Modern Sonic running forward in YET again a Modern Sonic level with sloppy looking classic elements like classic boost pads and from what I saw the wisps are back. Don't be fooled this is NOT a representation of the game with Modern Sonic as I went to read the article knuckles20 put in his description and the guy demoing the game pretty much said when he was playing through the level the camera shifts to 2.5D just like prior games and he even says it is just like we've seen before.

So while I think the game aesthetically maybe different it has Classic Sonic, he will be playable in his own 2.5D levels, and Sonic's friends are literally background characters not playable at all. the game looks and from what we've seen plays like a freaking Generations sequel.
well :iconknuckles20: you nailed it

Rather than give up, I will instead get as violent as the classic fans if this game does fail; sending death threats to everyone involved.

Why? The classic fans got what they wanted.

They'll play victim if they see other fans sending them death threats and what not. We want to make ourselves more presentable as a possible counter point not give them more victories.

Why do I keep telling myself everything will be alright when I know the gameplay will suck? Oh well, let's just continue making my own Sonic game and throw the alpha to SEGA once it's ready. If we chew all the work for them, maybe will they see what's wrong with their mindset.

I wouldn't say the gameplay sucks it is more of that they we're trying to hype this up as the next step to 3D Sonic and it is gameplay we've already seen like this 3D to 2.5D transitions thing that is already a staple to Sonic. The whole "serious" story I think we'll see is nothing more than fluff with a gritty art style because the level they showed in the 42 second trailer I watched along with more of the game from the panel looked DULL AS FUCK.

Yup, it looked really goofy. But let's just hope it's still a step forward.

I just hope not every level is that drab and depressed looking. There's more to a "serious" game than just a dark atmosphere and I'm hoping if that is the direction Sega is smart enough to figure this out.

Yeah, that's one misstep they don't want to make. Wow, so many steps in my words, that's crazy...

Step, step, steppidy, step

But seriously I get you they need to be more alert but also take some risks that could push the envelope.

Thank you.

You know, as much I am sick of the classic pandering, I might try out Mania only because Tails and Knuckles are playable.

But before that happens I wanna try out Freedom Planet; a Sonic fan game that eventually become have it's own identity while still having  Sonic elements included. From what I heard it's not perfect but the attention grabbers for me are:

-3 playable characters.
-plot with cutscenes and voice acting.
-also there are to modes Adventure(Story) and Classic. Kinda self-explanitory

It may be a 2D game but I'm willing to give Freedom Planet a chance because the world of FP feels less hollow than recent Sonic games

You don't have to tell me already played it and I can't wait for the sequel. It just goes to show what I was trying to say in my previous post about how these games based on the source material of Sonic rather they break off into original I.Ps or just fan projects do a WAY better job at using these characters or elements. Freedom Planet with all its iffy elements does a better job at balancing its tone than what Sonic can hope to do.
